On July 10, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held Express Entry Draw #426, issuing 500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates in the Senior Managers with Canadian Experience category. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 392.
This was only the second draw ever held for senior managers, and it doubled the size of the first. It also capped an extraordinarily busy week – the fourth draw in five days. Below, the Earnest Immigration team breaks down what the numbers mean for experienced business leaders in Canada.

If you met the category’s eligibility criteria, had a CRS score of 392 or higher, and submitted your Express Entry profile before 01:46:05 UTC on March 15, 2026, you should have received an invitation in this round.
Why 392 Is Such an Important Number
Set 392 against the other rounds held in the very same week and the advantage becomes obvious: Canadian Experience Class candidates needed 517, and PNP candidates 708. For senior managers, the bar is dramatically lower.
This matters enormously for one specific reason: age. Senior managers reach their level after years – often decades – of building expertise, which means they tend to be older. And the CRS awards fewer points as candidates age. Without a dedicated category, many highly accomplished executives would simply struggle to compete in general rounds, no matter how strong their careers. A cut-off of 392 is a realistic, reachable target where 517 might not be.
In short, this category exists to correct a structural disadvantage in the points system – and it’s doing exactly that.
A Doubling in Size, but Still a Focused Draw
IRCC issued 500 ITAs in this round – twice the number invited in the first senior manager draw back in early March 2026.
Five hundred may sound modest next to a 5,000-ITA French round, but that’s the nature of these newer, tightly targeted categories. When a category requires both Canadian work experience and a narrow band of qualifying occupations, the eligible pool is naturally small. Smaller draws are a feature of the design, not a sign of low priority – and the low cut-off is the direct benefit of that narrow targeting.
Draw #426 also closed out another four-draw week: PNP on July 6, CEC on July 7, the French-language round on July 9, and senior managers on July 10 – together delivering just over 8,000 ITAs in a single week. With ten categories now available to IRCC, these concentrated draw clusters are becoming the norm.
Who Qualifies for the Senior Manager Category?
To be considered, you need at least 12 months of Canadian work experience in one of these four National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes:
| Occupation | 2021 NOC code | TEER category |
| Senior managers – financial, communications and other business services | 00012 | 0 |
| Senior managers – health, education, social and community services and membership organizations | 00013 | 0 |
| Senior managers – trade, broadcasting and other services | 00014 | 0 |
| Senior managers – construction, transportation, production and utilities | 00015 | 0 |
Two conditions catch people out. First, the experience must be gained in Canada – senior management experience earned entirely abroad does not qualify for this category. Second, a senior-sounding job title is not enough on its own. The category targets genuine senior leadership: decision-makers with responsibility for entire departments or organizations. If your role sits below that level, your NOC classification may not hold up under scrutiny.
Note the tie-breaking rule: if your score was exactly 392 but your profile was submitted after March 15, 2026 at 01:46:05 UTC, you weren’t selected this round – though you remain in the pool for future draws.
What to Expect From Future Senior Manager Draws
With only two draws on record, there isn’t yet a dependable pattern for frequency or cut-off. What we can say is that senior managers are one of IRCC’s ten target categories for 2026, and the fact that a second draw followed relatively quickly after the category was introduced signals real intent.
If your NOC qualifies and you’re not yet in the pool, that’s your single most important next step. Draws are not announced in advance, and only candidates already in the pool can be selected. The sooner your profile is live and accurate, the better positioned you are for the next round.
If Your Score Is Below 392
There’s still room to move:
- Retake a language test – stronger results are often the quickest way to add CRS points.
- Build French proficiency, which can add points and potentially open a separate category-based pathway.
- Pursue a provincial nomination, worth 600 CRS points – enough to qualify you under the PNP route regardless of your base score.
- Verify your NOC classification is correct. Getting this right is often the difference between eligibility and exclusion.

Frequently Asked Questions
What was the CRS cut-off for Express Entry Draw #426?
The minimum CRS score for Draw #426 on July 10, 2026 was 392.
How many ITAs were issued in Draw #426?
IRCC issued 500 Invitations to Apply to candidates in the Senior Managers with Canadian Experience category – double the number issued in the first senior manager draw in March 2026.
Who qualifies for the senior manager category?
You need at least 12 months of Canadian work experience in NOC codes 00012, 00013, 00014, or 00015 (all TEER 0), in a genuine senior decision-making role with responsibility for a department or organization.
Does senior management experience gained abroad count?
No. The Canadian work experience requirement means experience gained only outside Canada does not qualify for this category.
Why is the senior manager cut-off so much lower than CEC draws?
Senior managers tend to be older, and the CRS awards fewer points with age. The category corrects for that structural disadvantage, letting experienced leaders be selected on the strength of their occupation.
How long do I have to apply after receiving an ITA?
You have 60 days from the date of your invitation to submit a complete permanent residence application.
What can I do if my CRS is below 392?
Consider retaking a language test, building French proficiency, verifying your NOC classification, or pursuing a provincial nomination worth 600 CRS points.
